Meet Award-Winning Designer Stella Mazza
Hi…I am Stella Mazza, award-winning creative director, artisan candle maker, and founder of KAT + GIO luxury crystal candles. I am passionate about my craft, obsess over details, and adore creating beautiful, functional art that brings joy to everyday life. As a creative designer and entrepreneur since the age of twenty, I launched my first company, Stella's Bridal, in 1984 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
I am proud to have achieved international recognition, including 2007 and 2008 awards for my designs in two separate Swarovski Crystallized Elements competitions in Arizona and New York, winning 5th and 3rd place respectively out of 300 worldwide applicants.
Always wanting to make a creative statement and loving the entrepreneurial life, I explored many artistic mediums, including Swarovski crystal jewellery and intricate French beaded bouquets. Eager to prove my "sky's the limit" philosophy, I took on an ambitious project: recreating the iconic wedding bouquet the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton carried on her royal wedding day using handmade French beaded flowers.
In 2011, I received a royal seal of approval of the highest order when my handcrafted bouquet of French beaded art was accepted as a tribute gift to the royal couple—a moment that validated my dedication to artisan craftsmanship.
Now with KAT & GIO, I am once again pushing the boundaries and innovating fresh ideas in the ancient art of candle making. I was the first to launch the original crystal gemstone candle in 2017, featuring embedded healing crystals that can only be created by our innovative two-pour process. Although others have since joined the trend, I'm proud to be the pioneer of this unique luxury candle-burning experience with essential oils and natural gemstones, and am especially happy you are on this journey with me.

Organic Wood Wicks
Our organic wood wicks create a unique candle-burning experience with clean burning and a soft, soothing crackling ambiance reminiscent of a cozy fireplace. These superior, all-natural wood wicks are made from native, sappy fruit trees and sourced exclusively from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified sustainable mills, manufactured with pride and expert craftsmanship in the USA. Featuring international patent technology, these eco-friendly natural wicks are nontoxic, lead-free, and zinc-free, ensuring a safe, clean burn for you and your family.
Pure Essential Oils
Pure essential oils are the fragrant essence of plants and have been prized for centuries for their natural healing, therapeutic, and invigorating properties. Unlike synthetic fragrance oils and chemical-produced scents used in most commercial candles, these highly concentrated plant-based oils are the foundation of aromatherapy—a holistic wellness practice based on the idea that aromatic compounds from plants have powerful healing properties.

Our palm wax materials are ethically sourced from RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certified member suppliers, ensuring responsible and sustainable harvesting practices. Our wax contains no GMO materials, petroleum, paraffin, or synthetic additives—just pure, natural plant-based wax. All candles are hand-poured in small batches by in Winnipeg, with the melted wax carefully heated to its precise melting point to ensure optimal burn quality, longevity, and that signature crystallized aesthetic.

Our natural raw gemstones, also known as healing crystals, are ethically sourced from the mineral-rich lands of Brazil, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, and Mexico.
